Parts of Speech

While delivering a speech the whole sole purpose of the speaker is to influence the listeners and encourage them that they bound to listen to the speaker. Giving a great speech in public is an art and this art needs to be learnt. Before a speaker speaks the speech he or she needs to be prepared with the content. The draft should be so meaningful and apt for the audience that the listeners find pleasure in hearing what the speaker is saying. For that the three parts of Speech are there which needs to be kept in mind while drafting it. The three parts are, Ethos - This is the opening of the speech where the speaker is trying to build the confidence among the listeners and make some rapport with them. As a listener, why someone should hear to them? The answer of this question needs to be clarified here in this part. A speaker can greet the audience and try to take them under his confidence so that the speaker and the listeners both are comfortable in the entire process. Pathos- This ...

Think-Assess and Speak!

 1. "Try to listen before you speak, understand the speaker what she needs....take a pause and churn your brain, do not reply without thinking in a haste." 2. "Our words decide the appraisal or criticism, so speak with care." 3. "Whenever you speak, remember one thing. It's your fluency what's the success' key. Don't utter the words in the speed of airplane, take suitable pauses try to understand the listener's pain." 4. "Multiple languages should not be the reason of differentiation rather it should be the chance of integration." 5. "If you know how to play with the words, you can make a great empire of yours in this vast world." My thoughts 💭 about language, fluency and speaking skills.

Is it a new concept or something which existed years back? So let's see the History of Public Speaking. The history of public speaking dates back around 2500 years ago. In ancient Greece it was considered a skill which must be possessed by each and everyone to be the active citizen of the nation in a democracy. According to Aristotle, the skill of public speaking, empowers the citizens to debate, challenge and ask the questions about the functioning and working of the government. Why public speaking is important?

Public speaking is as essential as wearing clothes and eating food in present days. A great personality attracts people automatically hence public speaking is a skill which can upgrade the personality of the speaker. In the present scenario of globalisation, a person versed well in the skill of public speaking won't be defeated anywhere.  It certainly boosts the confidence at a large extent and motivates the speaker to do well and maximise the reach. A person who knows what to speak and how to speak at what point and place can certainly influence the listeners to follow the speakers. Along with developing a strong and influential personality, public speaking also opens the door for various career opportunities, educational scholarships and benefits for the learners. So according to me in today's scenario the most precious and valuable gift which we can give to this upcoming generation is to mould them into a great public speaker.

What is Public Speaking Skill?

I would like to know from my readers also about the question stated above as everyone would certainly have different opinions about Public Speaking according to their usage, but I would like to put my views in respect to the question stated above. A human being is a social creature and can't expect a smooth conduct of life in isolation. Interaction, communication, collaboration and active sharing of thoughts are very prominent areas of one's life. So when we talk about this skill "Public speaking" we cover all those aspects which are essentially required to be a good communicator. In public speaking we deal the questions such as- What to speak? How to speak and for whom to speak? Dealing with one's own thoughts and putting them into the words by which a number of people can be influenced is called public speaking.

Why to teach public speaking?

"If you know how to express yourself, there is no dearth of ears to listen to you". As an educator, I feel if I can make my students learn how to express themselves nicely in front of a gathering my purpose of teaching them is fulfilled. Public Speaking is a skill which creates magic. The impact of speaking is strong and if it is done in a nice manner, half the battle is won. As an educator I feel that it's not enough to teach only the ABC of the text books to the students, rather it's must to develop this skill of public speaking strongly among the students so that they do not hesitate or feel shy in opening themselves to the society. It's a must skill which is required for developing interpersonal skills and socialization of the students. This one skill has so many benefits and facilitating this skill will surely help the learners to be a great problem solver and development of confidence among them.
